Outcome

Homeowner now stores daytime solar surplus and uses it in the evening instead of importing at peak rate. Export income via Outgoing Octopus at 12p/kWh supplements the original FiT payments.

Battery + inverter installed: within the £5,000–£9,000 range (exact figure confidential at customer request).

FiT generation payments continued unchanged. SPEN G98 notification handled by us.

Inverter replacement on a failing SMA system

What we did

The original SMA inverter was showing E011 fault codes and had stopped exporting. Replaced with a modern hybrid inverter, battery-ready for a future upgrade.

Outcome

System restored to full generation within half a day. Monitoring app installed so the homeowner can track output daily.

Full system replacement with battery and heat pump referral

What we did

Complete roof strip and refit with modern panels, new hybrid inverter, and stacked battery system. Old panels had lost over 20% output. Heat pump installed by our partner under HES grant.

Outcome

Combined with a heat pump, the homeowner qualified for the full HES rural package: £9,000 grant + £7,500 interest-free loan (£16,500 total support) (Source: Home Energy Scotland, checked August 2026). Net out-of-pocket cost was significantly reduced.

Full system installed: within the £12,000–£18,000 range. After HES grant, net cost under £10,000 (Source: Home Energy Scotland, checked August 2026).

Building warrant was not required. SPEN G99 application managed by us (approved in 6 weeks). All figures are illustrative — actual costs depend on system size and property.
