Solar battery upgrades in Glasgow and the west

Glasgow's housing ranges from Victorian and Edwardian sandstone tenements in the West End, Southside, and Shawlands to 1930s–1960s semis in the outer suburbs and new-build estates in areas like Dalmarnock and Ruchill.

• Tenement close consent: under the Tenements (Scotland) Act 2004, the roof of a tenement is common property. Installing panels on a shared roof requires consent from a majority of co-owners. We prepare the consent letters and manage the process.
• Close access and scaffolding: many Glasgow tenements have rear closes accessible via back lanes. Scaffolding on a tenement typically adds £500–£1,500 to the installed cost. The site survey gives you an exact figure.
• Suburban houses: detached and semi-detached houses in the outer suburbs and across Renfrewshire, Lanarkshire, and Ayrshire are straightforward for solar and battery installation — often completed in a single day.

DNO: SP Energy Networks (SPEN)

Glasgow and the west are in SPEN's licence area.

• G98 (up to 3.68 kW export): notification to SPEN, typically 10 working days.
• G99 (above 3.68 kW): formal application, typically 4–8 weeks.

HES grants (Glasgow postcodes)

Glasgow postcodes (G1–G78) are urban. The HES package for urban homes is:

• £7,500 grant + £7,500 interest-free loan = £15,000 total support (heat pump stream)
• Requires a heat pump installation alongside battery/solar

A separate energy efficiency grant of up to £7,500 is available for measures such as insulation. Combined grants: up to £15,000.

Applicant must be a natural person, owner-occupier, on domestic council tax.
